Remedy and Annapurna Interactive are working together on Control 2
Remedy Entertainment has sealed a deal with Annapurna Interactive for the development of Control 2. This news was made official via a press release on the website. The collaboration is made to expand the games under Remedy to new horizons of TV and film adaptations. This will kickstart the journey of Control’s sequel that is being awaited from 2019. Remedy and Annapurna’s Deal Synopsis
Despite years of effort and teamwork, some games couldn’t climb up the success ladder or stay unpopular. This turns them down financially and approach publishers to help them. Previously Remedy has made an exclusivity deal with Epic Games for their very famous Alan Wake 2. The game was honored and brought home a number of awards. But Epic Games’ CEO said that they couldn’t recoup the development costs as this exclusivity deal was not a good investment.
Things turned dark on Remedy. But a few weeks ago, Remedy provided a positive update on the upcoming and underdevelopment projects. As the Max Payne 1 and 2 along with Control 2 progressive to completion. Yet there is no release window for the games. This big move proved Remedy’s opportunity to expand. The press release mentioned that the “strategic cooperation agreement” with Annapurna Interactive is a win-win situation for both parties.
According to the press release, self-publishing of the Remedy Control 2 game will be possible without compromising anything. Moreover, the game will be expanded to other mediums like TV and movies. Remedy will have a good portion of revenue after the initial investment is recouped. Whereas, Annapurna will get a big chunk of profits from TV and movie adaptions. But Remedy will have complete control of IPs for Alan Wake and Control.
Annapurna Interactive Getting Control and Alan Wake on TV and Other Mediums
This close collaboration games film TV deal is a dream come true for Remedy. Annapurna is the perfect match for Remedy who has the creativity and effort to help it to a unified vision. Annapurna is a risk-taker company as they have experimented with Stray and Edith Finch. However, Control and Alan Wake are connected universe. The story of Alan Wake is partially inspired by True Detective and Control is a frontline guardian to fight supernatural opponents.
Such storylines with this deal will surely be a great success on TV and other mediums. But the gamer community is not affected much.
