Take-Two Interactive now owns Gearbox Software. Surprisingly, the gaming industry was prepared for it. But the gamers worldwide came to know about it around midnight, literally. Gearbox is the development studio for the action fantasy game series, Borderlands. This acquisition was made official by social media handlers by the ex-owner, Embracer Group. It wasn’t a surprise for gamers and tech enthusiasts. There were rumors that the financial reputation of Gearbox wasn’t profitable for the Embracer Group. This rumor turned out to be true. Because Embracer Group sold Gearbox for $460 million to Take-Two. Whereas, Embracer Group acquired the Gearbox for $1.3 billion in 2021. It is not even half of the acquisition money.

The acquisition announcement was open and shut. Founder of Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford shares an image with the news of joining the Take-Two/2K family. He stated that Take-Two will ascend Gearbox to the next level. Looking forward to its success. Take-Two Interactive shared a press statement including the details of the deal made.

As per the statement, the acquisition will be completed by 30th June 2024. The statement includes the very message of the continuation of the active projects.
