Akira was suffering from a fatal condition, acute subdural hematoma. According to the NHS website, the blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain. This condition is mainly caused by a head injury. Its symptoms appear with a headache which gets severe with time.

Akira Toriyama made his entry into the anime world with the Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine contest. At the age of 23, he stepped into the manga world. This manga contest led him to his first gag manga Dr. Slump in 1980. In 1984, the fantasy comedy Shonen series, Dragon Ball was created.
