Last weekend in London, Yoshi-P revealed that he wished to have a crossover with Blizzard’s Diablo. He expressed his desire at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest event for Dawntrail expansion coming the following year.

Yoshida acknowledged that this has been his ambition for three years and hasn’t been fulfilled yet. Especially after the release of Diablo 4 Season 2 on Steam Deck, the game has reached an advanced level for players and got spotlighted by tech analysts. Back in 2020, while in an interview with TheGamer he stated that he is very much interested in collaboration with Diablo and World of Warcraft. His interest in Diablo can be clearly seen in his statement.

“I mentioned this in the past, but I’m a huge Blizzard fan. So, I mean, if we could just make it work then I would be so happy to see some sort of collaboration with Diablo.” He continued, “Diablo has quite a, I would say, hardcore graphics outlook in terms of the world. So, you know, you see spikes here and there. Lots of spiky things and that. In terms of the ratings, it might be a bit difficult. Of course, on the other hand, we don’t really want to disappoint fans of the franchise as well. So, yeah, it’s a tricky one.”

For any crossover to happen, Yoshi-P stressed the importance of enriched narrative, mature content, and explicit tone of Diablo. Players have also come to expect crossovers to offer unique rewards, items, rewards, and more incentives. Some expect the crossover to be a less or more rough version of Diablo. He affirmed this statement, “If we go for a softer version of Diablo in XIV, of course, maybe that’s not what people want, as well”.
