The developer of the Destiny series, Bungie has now confirmed that the upcoming game expansion will be delayed. Destiny 2 The Final Shape was set to release on 27th February 2024. Rumors were spread across the internet giving a hint of delay. But that studio has confirmed it. Bungie has pushed the Destiny 2 The Final Shape delayed game to June 4th,2024. And the studio announced it on its official blog. Let’s see the actual reason for this.

The shoot-for-loot game had ditched its fans previously. The Witch Queen was also delayed from late 2021 to early 2022. Since then the fandom has lost faith in the released dates. Fans were excited about the previous release date which was 27th February to see how the gameplay will be thrilling.

Due to recent layoffs in Bungie, rumors whispered that game release would be affected due to the shortfall of employees. Bungie CEO, Pete Parsons later broke the silence about the actual reason for layoffs as the underperforming employees. And now Bungie itself confirmed it. Just a few hours before, Bungie’s official blog confirmed the news.

As the blog begins the clear motive described for the delay is that Bungie has an even bigger and bolder vision for its gamers to experience and cherish the expansion for years. The blog concluded that more content needs to be added along with a list of features. The blog also stated that more game updates will be shared in April.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape will be released on 4th June 2024. The post further explained the new game content. In the same post, Bungie shared a mini plan for the content updates starting from February. It stated, “In February, this will include new weekly progression-based quests called Wishes, and the launch of Moments of Triumph with unique rewards.  Next, we’re moving Guardian Games up to March with a refreshed focus on class vs. class competition.

The plan keeps extending till May. Then, beginning in April, we’re delivering a two-month content update available to everyone called Destiny 2: Into the Light, which will prepare players for their Guardian’s journey into the Traveler. All of this is in addition to the ongoing efforts from our PvP Strike Team, including three new PvP maps dropping in May.”

Destiny 2 The Final Shape delayed news has confirmed rumors. Gamers will have to wait for the summer of 2024 for the expansion. Fandom has mixed emotions about the delayed news as the release date is pushed but the new game content will keep them sparked for the gameplay.
